Taddei's goal with A ChristmaSpiral was to reimagine the classic Christmas tree using innovative forms and materials. The design features a vertical spiral made up of individual wooden elements, supported by an iron pole inserted into a wooden base. This base also doubles as a storage box for the tree during periods of non-use, adding to the design's versatility.
The realization of A ChristmaSpiral involves the use of balsa wood treated with fireproof paint and painted brass iron. When closed, the tree has a radius of 50 cm and a height of 15 cm. When fully opened, it expands to a radius of 70 cm and a height of 240 cm.
What sets A ChristmaSpiral apart is its ease of assembly. Taddei has ensured that anyone can put it together by following a few simple steps. The process involves unboxing the parts, installing the support pole, attaching the wooden elements, rotating them into position, and adding the lights. The power cord can then be passed through a designated hole for a seamless finish.
The development of A ChristmaSpiral was not without its challenges. Taddei aimed to create a design where the box itself became an integral part of the overall aesthetic. The iron screw-element, hidden from view, serves as both a closure for the box and a fixing element for the support pole. This innovative solution allows for a seamless, all-wood effect.
Originating from months of practice experimentation, A ChristmaSpiral is the result of Taddei's research into different wood processing techniques, as well as testing the durability of the design in various weather conditions. The final product is a stunning representation of tradition and innovation, with the spiral shape symbolizing the essence of Christmas.
A ChristmaSpiral has received recognition for its exceptional design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2017, which honors well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. This accolade acknowledges the integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, contributing to a better world.
As the holiday season approaches, A ChristmaSpiral offers a fresh and contemporary alternative to the traditional Christmas tree. Its unique design, use of materials, and ease of assembly make it a standout piece for any home or space.
